Say hello to Preslar Art Initiatives!
On June 1, the Preslar Gallery became the Preslar Art Initiatives.
The PAI will continue its mission of promoting the emerging fine art talents of the Pacific Northwest and supporting the entrepreneurial approach to art, in honor of its namesake's (the late Floy Preslar) legacy.
There will be, initially, two components to the work of PAI:
- A quarterly, digital art magazine featuring visual arts, as well as artist interviews and papers on the topics related to art as social practice.
- A virtual art gallery on Second Life and/or OSgrid.
The magazine will be published as follows:
- Autumn 2019 (release late September): "Metamorphosis"
- Winter 2019 (release late December): "Reignition"
- Spring 2020 (release late March): "Truth, Beauty, and Goodness"
- Summer 2020 (release late June): "Play and Innocence"
If you are interested in participating in any of the upcoming issues, contact me by email.
Upcoming special events
Queer art party is cancelled for this year. Raincheck is available.
Unfortunately, due to a lot of chaotic situations surrounding this event, we had to call off this event. However, if you and/or your group would like to spend a couple of nights at the retreat center during the month of July (weekdays are better, some weekends are also possible), please contact Willow at least two weeks in advance. Same conditions apply (i.e., bring your own camping gear and equipment, be self-reliant, etc.). A suggested contribution of $10-$20 per person is appreciated but not required.
If you would like an indoor guesthouse accommodation, standard rates will apply. Reserve here.
Summer "pop-up" exhibits!!
The Preslar Art Initiatives will be having one or two summer “pop-up” exhibit(s) at Estancia Serenova's Alice Tarbell Cultural Space. This will be somewhat different in format from the previous shows at the Preslar Gallery.
These pop-up exhibits will be considered special events on an ad hoc basis, and their schedules may be modified.
